OUR STORY
Y Recreation was built on values passed from one generation to the next. Pete taught us that the measure of success is not simply what we own, but how we care for it. His belief in leaving the earth better than we found it continues to shape every decision we make. We remain deeply grateful that Pete founded Y Recreation and entrusted us with carrying its purpose forward.

Our Founder
A Legacy of Strength and Sanctuary
Pete Liegl built his life with the same grit and vision he used to build Forest River, Inc. From humble beginnings, he grew a company that helped families explore the outdoors, guided by a belief that nature brings people together. Yet, his connection to the land extended far beyond the industry he helped shape.
When Pete faced his battle with cancer, he found strength not in boardrooms, but in the quiet of the woods and the calm of the water. He understood the restorative power of open spaces and the perspective that can only be found in nature. Y Recreation carries that belief forward through long-term land ownership, thoughtful acquisitions, conservation, preservation, and selected property experiences. Like Pete, we do not view land simply as an asset but a responsibility.
Today, his spirit is reflected in every sunrise over the valley and every landscape entrusted to our care. This is more than a collection of properties. It is a promise kept—to protect meaningful places, create lasting connections to the outdoors, and preserve them for generations to come.
In Loving Memory: Peter Liegl, 1944 - 2024
Y Recreation acquires and stewards distinctive properties with enduring natural, recreational, and generational value. We believe exceptional land carries an exceptional responsibility. Through responsible ownership, conservation, wildlife stewardship, and carefully considered land use, we protect what makes each property irreplaceable.
